A tölgymakkormányos bogár (Curculio glandium) lárvája a termés belsejében él egész nyáron, majd amikor elfogyasztotta a makk szikleveleit, kirágja magát, elbújik az avarban, és ott bábozódik be. A kép ötlete onnan jött, hogy szajkók etetéséhez makkot gyűjtöttem, és másnapra tele volt lárvával az edény, amiben tároltam őket. Innen már csak némi kreativitás kellett, hogy ezt a képet el tudjam készíteni.

The larva of the acorn weevil bug (Curculio glandium) lives inside the acorn all summer. Once it has eaten the acorn’s cotyledon, it chews itself out, hides among the fallen dead leaves and pupates there. The idea for the photograph came from my collecting acorns for jays and by the next day the dish in which I was keeping them was full of larvae. Henceforth, it only required a bit of creativity to take this photo.
